Non-Mercer Faculty or Student

Introduction

Any investigator who does not have an affiliation with Mercer University MUST secure a Mercer-affiliated faculty or staff member to serve as the sponsor or point person willing to help navigate their study through the IRB review process. The sponsor will be aware of the study and will treat the study as they would any student research study. All persons conducting research involving human subjects must have on file with the Office of Research Compliance a valid certificate of human subject training from CITI or other Mercer University IRB approved human subjects training organization.

Continuing Review Form

According to federal regulations, annual review of research is necessary. Courtesy reminder letters are sent to investigators ninety (90), sixty (60), and thirty (30) days prior to the expiration date of the approval period. The "courtesy reminder" does not take the place of the investigator's responsibility to ensure that their research project remains in compliance.

The closure of a study will occur when the IRB does not receive a continuing review form before the expiration date of the project.
